Well, I can almost guarantee you that you're shortly going to have more than two guinea pigs. I hope your parents realize that a new cage for one of them would be much cheaper than having several guinea pigs. Breeding guinea pigs is a risky business for both the sows and the pups, and if your sow has to have emergency vet care, they'll have spent far more than they would have if they'd let you separate them in the beginning.

@bpatters thanx for the advice. i dont like to push my parents. besides the fact that my parents are the ones buying the nessecities like food, bedding etc. (I am in charge of fun things and toys) my bike is undergoing repairs that will cost 100$. (It used to be my brothers, so it was a hand-me-down) the main reason we got sweetpea was to be a friend for Patches. if sweetpea does have pups though, i have homes that they can go to. i wouldnt have to advertise or anything like that. although if you still think i should get two cages, i will save for another one

Where did you get Sweet Pea?
If possible, I'd return her from where you got her. Or rehome her immediately. Patches WILL make babies with her.

Your Guinea pigs will need to be separated, before your female guinea pig gives birth. That's if she is pregnant, which she most likely is. The male can make her pregnant again, straight after she gives birth. It's called a back to back pregnancy and is very harsh on the sow. Please try and separate them as soon as you can, is there anything temporary you could use as a cage ?

You need to separate them quickly. A male and a female will make babies. It's just how the world works, and before you know it, you'll have up to six babies, then those babies if not sexed correctly, can have babies among themselves. You are also risking your female's life by putting her in with a male, and the lives of the babies.

@Dahlia , are your parents willing to risk having lethal white pups if the two you have are carrying the roan or dalmatian genes? Those pigs are blind and deaf, expensive to care for, often require hand-feeding for years, and require frequent tooth trims from the dentist unless your parents are willing to learn to do it?

And if you keep them together and Sweet Pea has pups, she can get pregnant again as soon the babies are born, and then you'll have even more pups.

Can you rehome one or the other of the pigs for another of the same gender as the one you're keeping?

Is there any chance that Patches has been neutered?

because my family and I are christians. my mom doesn't like public schools where they teach evolution and other things we don't believe. she also thinks that peer pressure could cause us to do things that are wrong (I.e. mean pranks, bullying, cheating...) plus she likes to teach us. about Sweetpea, she was in a huge cage with other females when i got her. hope that answers your question and i didn't mean to offend anyone

i dont understand about lethal white pups roan or dalmatian genes. maybe u would like to expand a little? if in the event that Sweetpea's pups are deaf, blind i will take full responsibility for them and i won't give them away. if the can see and hear, i live in a big neighborhood and have friends who love my guinea pigs and would love a baby guinea pig(s) Patches might be neutered i am not sure. like i said earlier, i got him from a family who couldn't care for him the way they needed too. i don't know if they had had him as a pup, if he was already "old" when they got him or if another family had had him, I'm not sure

You may look after the pups very well, but if your female and male guinea pigs haven't been separated before the pups are born, sweetpea will be pregnant again meaning more baby guinea pigs, which is not good for the her. Also if the male babies and female babies are not separated at 3 weeks, the female babies could become pregnant to.

If you have a c and c cage put a few down the middle to separate them i may be fun to have baby pigs but its not good for the pigs espessially the. Mommy. Go to the vet and see if he is neutered if he is not get him neutered that would be the best thing to do because you have one cage

No your not sounding harsh or anything like that. But everyones concerned that you little girl will not only possibly give birth but also get pregnant right away - which is risking her life. Then if these babies mate with each other, you'll have more problems.

I'm not real smart when it comes to posting links but maybe someone else can or you can google "How to tell if a male guinea pig has been fixed/neutered" Then compare it with yours. Maybe your going to luck out and you won't have babies.

If your boy is neutered good for you if not divide the cage for recovery and get that little boy neutered dont worry about another cage just get him neutered save up for neutering not another cage

I think this is the best option for your circumstances :-)
