Hi from New Mexico
hello all! Ive been visiting the forum for a while now - since before I even adopted my two piggies, to now. Always find a lot of good information posted and now a member
I just adopted my first two piggies - Bungie and Cortona (they were both supposed to be females, however, cortona ended up being a male, so their names are now Bungie and Chief!). Any Halo fans out there?
. Well, after having the piggies home we noticed Bungie was growing fatter while Chief wasn't gaining as much weight. Soon, it became apparent that Bungie was pregnant and Chief was a boy.
Bungie had her babies 15 days ago - there were 5 but one died
The other 4 are doing great! Chirp level has increased ten-fold around here
.
We live in a small town - drove two towns over to adopt the piggies - and the small animal vet here is not experience with guinea pigs at all. So, I plan to be visiting this site many many times! We already have homes lined up for all the babies and have separated Bungie and Chief (we will have him neutered soon). In the meantime; however, I have these 2 week old piggies and I have no clue as to their sexes. So, anyone out there want to lend me a hand, I would appreciate it! I have visited multiple sites with images of the two sexes but we are either completely wrong, or we have 4 baby girls. We plan to try again next week at the 3 week mark.
Anyway, we are greatly enjoying all the piggies. We built a custom cage for Bungie and Chief, and are using fleece as the bedding and coroplast for the sides. Prior the pregnancy discovery they both enjoyed running up and down the ramps that connect the two levels to their cage, chasing each other around the living room, and Chief enjoys swimming in their shallow pool in their outdoor pen.
Can't wait to talk and connect with more GP owners!
here's bungie and chief enjoying the outdoors

here's the babies!

Cute piggies!
Post pictures of the pertinent parts (close-ups, please), and read Sexing Guinea Pigs: How to Sex a Guinea Pig. We'll help you try to figure it out.
