Introducing the newest member to my family...Clyde.
Clyde was living as a stray around my sisters work (daycare center). The center is right next to a neighborhood and one of the parent's told the boss that the family that had him had moved away. He had an eye infection, and so the boss called animal control. He was very friendly though, would come around when he heard people...my sister said if she had left the door open she thinks he would have just walked right in the center. First off, they sent the police, as Animal Control does not start until like 10am (and one of officers was allergic to cats...seriously?). Clyde was elusive to being caught, and it was finally my sister who got him and put him into the cage.
Apparently one of the staffs daughters volunteers at the animal shelter here and gave us the 'inside scoop' on Clyde. Because of his eye infection he would not be adoptable, but could stay at the shelter for up to 10 days before he was euthanized. When my sister heard that, she felt heartbroken, like she had sent this little cat to die. So we decided to go claim it as our own cat who had gotten out. Whoops...little white lie
Clyde is the most affectionate little cat I have ever seen. Especially to have been a stray for several months. He was in a fight with another animal as he had a cut eye and scratches on the side of his face. He is skinny, 11 lbs..but you can tell he will be a big boy when he fills out. Our vet guesses he is about 1-2 yrs old. Clyde had a painful bump on his back, and the vet says he is positive he was shot by a BB gun. The infection in his eye cleared up well with antibiotics, and when he goes to get neutered they are going to put a stitch in to see if they can fix it, as the scar tissue is what is pulling it down.
Clyde even had a bath today (24 hrs after getting him) and didn't put up a fight! What a sweet little guy!!
As soon as he is in better health, they will put him to sleep and remove the BB, neuter and fix his eye! Clyde is on oral antibiotics, eye medication, Revolution and some kitty vitamins. We are trying to get him to eat wet food which he doesn't seem to recognize is food at all!
