No, baby shampoos aren't designed to be used on animals that groom themselves. You can find Squeaky Clean Critter Shampoo at places like Walmart or Target, or order on line. Gorgeous Guineas makes great shampoos, but they're kind of expensive, and have to be ordered online.

Oh i was
Just wondering because alot of people says it works good on them
I would also recommend Gorgeous Guineas. They recommend you do a patch test on the small bald patch behind the ears to make sure that your pig is not allergic to it before you go ahead and use it. I'm not sure if it'll be expensive for shipping because you're in the US though.

It doesn't mean those people have any knowledge of the product itself.
Baby shampoo is one of the more alkaline products, meaning a high ph level. The natural skin/scalp mantle has a naturally low ph, and if this is disturbed, it significantly increases the risk of skin irritation, dandruff & skin conditions. (A well dilluted apple cider vinegar rinse restores the ph however.)
You want to avoid harsh foaming surfactants like SLS, SLES & ALS, commonly used in most commercial human shampoos unfortunately. You also want to avoid silicones, perfume, parabens & paraffin. Depending on the pig you might also want a natural conditioning agent. Safest bet is Gorgeous guineas shampoo.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find ingerdients list for Squeaky Clean anywhere, so I can't comment on it. Most Guinea pig shampoos where I live has insecticides & other completely unsuitable ingredients, so always check the ingredients.
Thanks you guys i think i want to try squeaky clean critters since most ceramic baths get to small for guinea pigs as they get older.
There's really no need to bathe your pigs at all. They groom themselves and do a fine job at it. Unless they are super dirty for some reason, it's really not necessary.

Squeaky Clean shampoo is for use in water, so if you don't use a basin, you'll have to use a sink or bathtub. Mine actually like the water, so I bathe them in the tub. One end is shallower, the other a little deeper, and they like paddling around in the deeper end.
There's no ingredients list that I've seen. I got it from Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue when I got my pigs, and figured if they were selling it there wasn't any question about the safety. But maybe they never looked into it either.
I just emailed the company that makes it, Super Pet, and asked them for an ingredients list.
I was looking online, and found this type: Super Pet Instant Critter Shampoo 6Oz. I don't know if it's OK for pigs. It's for small animals like guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, etc. Has anybody used this in the past with good results, because they sell it on the Sears website, which would be very easy for some people to get, seeing as it is very cheap and Sears stores are everywhere. Is this the type people were recommending? I haven't looked for it in the store, so I don't know if the ingredients are OK...
Super pet Instant Critter Shampoo, Smellin' Good, Quick & Clean & Squeaky clean all have very similar bottles from the quick search I made, but so far we don't have any ingredients to compare. Just make sure to avoid the spray & fragrance bottles with the same names. If the instant shampoo is a dry/foam shampoo not made to wash off, don't use it. I'd stick with Squeaky clean if you can find it.

Thank you so much! That's not very good for the consumer that they named them all so similarly...I'm probably going to make an order for a bottle of Squeaky Clean shampoo, just to have. I'd rather have it on hand and never need it, then force my parents to make a midnight run for it, because the piggies fell in goop!
I noticed that if you searched for it on Google Shopping, it doesn't come up. If you go to sears.com, and search "Squeaky Clean Shampoo" you get quite a few results. I don't really know what the differences are between all of them, but I'm assuming that there are some.
Squeaky Clean makes several different kinds of shampoos, including for humans, I believe. What you want is Squeaky Clean Critter Shampoo.
This is not about guinea pigs but how do i start a new blog because i want to make toys for my guinea pig that he can have outside and inside his cage an where to find guinea pig clothes at
I'm not sure, but I think you have to have been a member for a certain amount of time before you can start a blog. Maybe when you become a Cavy Slave?
I too recommend gorgious guineas shampoo. I special order mine (we have fragrance allergies) and since it is natural it can spoil and separate within a year so you only want to order a small amount. Short haired pigs should only be bathed 3-4 times a YEAR! Long haired can be washed up to once a month. I know my short hairs usually are only washed twice a year (both in the summer as its so hot and I don't like them being cold). My one long hair likes sleeping in poop so I trim and bathe him every 2 months or so.
I was on petsmart and it has this backpack for animals it sayy it water proof breathable and good stuff like that
And i want to get it and it says it safe and it hooks on to anyleash while your taking them out for a walk ....Should i get it? Heres the website to
