He is super cute!! I like Hippo (although there are probably a million Hippo skinnies out there!) or Percy Good luck!

@bpatters - looks like the OP has other skinnies already so he's probably in good hands.

He's a cutie. Why are they rehoming a 4 month old? It's not even enough time to get used to having him.

I adopted Buddy when he was around the same age. The owners said their kids wouldn't clean the cage so out he went. He looks like a cute little thing! Congradulations!

she said they had no time for him, they had him, sense he was 6 weeks old, and knew nothing really about guineas apparently....she didn't even know he was a boy!!...he has the biggest male parts ever, . when i went to pick him up she had her daughter with her that tried to grab him by his back legs....i'm just glad he's safe now!

they do look like little hippos...atleast that's how i discribe them to people,
my female skinnys name is gloria named after the hippo on madagascare, i then got my second skinny (male) and figured i'd name him melman...that's the giraff on maagascar that's in love with the hippo gloria, so i was maybe thinking alex, named after the lion because he has orange fur on his nose!

For some reason "bowser" was what came to mind when I saw his face...don't ask why cuz it doesn't really make sense to me but that's what I thought of!!

It's a good thing you took him in. He really is a handsome guy. There seems to be a sudden increase in the number of male skinnies that are popping up on Craigslist around here. There's one that came up yesterday that's listing three male skinnies at a reduced rate of $70 each because they have too much fur. How sick is that......I think breeders are hanging on to the females and selling the males. I've also noticed some local breeders listing multiple males of other breeds in a single ad. Has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of people who are breeding?

i personally haven't seen any in my area...breeders of skinnies, but that's so horrible! the skinnies that have too much fur are probley wearwolf skinnies.....when people breed sometimes they come out with a little extra hair, i think they're cute....but i always seem to like odd things. But what you're finding on craigslist doesn't surprise me at all, people can be cruel, they don't care about safety of animals, just the money! If people are going to breed and be stupid they can atleast do it right!

With the number of guinea pigs that are out there that are being euthanized, I think it's careless and irresponsible to keep breeding them like that. Here are the two ads that are up right now:

    male hairless guinea pigs
    Guinea pigs 1 hairless

I agree. There are quite a few skinny and baldwin breeders that are advertising on craigslist and ebay classifieds around here. You can tell they're feeling the pressure from the competition because some of their ads are claiming their pigs are better than the others. When you see photos with poor living conditions, it makes you wonder what you're not seeing.....
