My first piggy passed away

[Slave to the Rose]

Rose was born roughly Dec 7th of 2006. I rescued her from petsmart with a severe upper respiratory infection. She went through rounds of meds and was able to make a full recovery. She lived a full and happy life.

On the 4th, I noticed she had developed a bit of a stuffy nose and was moving more sluggishly than normal. I had a feeling it was getting close to that time, so I prepared a special meal of all of her favorites. She ate very slowly but finished everything she liked. She went and lay down in her igloo where she quietly passed in the night.

I am planning on rescuing another pig soon to take her place but, as my first piggy, I will always hold her near to my heart.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost Rose but glad you realized it was coming and were able to make her final day a special one. I'm glad you were blessed with her for many years, especially after her rough start. Good for you to be planning an adoption. I think that's one of the best ways you can honor a piggy's loss, by turning it into an opportunity to give another needy pig a home.

She was adorable! You loved her right from the start and did everything in your power to save her. She is now looking down at you from the rainbow bridge silently thanking you.

I agree with @mufasa - you can adopt another piggy to honner your piggies past life.

Thats so very sad! I teared up at the part where you gave her her last meal, that's so very nice of you and brave to realize it was coming and not run away from it so to speak. She was obviously VERY well loved. I'm sorry she passed on. You seemed to love her very much, and I'm sure she appreciated every little thing you ever did to make her life special and happy.

Rose was a beautiful piggie. She left quite a legacy. You gave her a lifetime of love and care and she gave you a lifetime of wonderful memories. Rest in peace little one.

Thank you all for your kind words! Not to worry, Rose had a lifelong buddy named Hotaru who is still with us and doing find. I have adopted a new piggy, Rouge and will post pictures soon.

I'm so sorry for your loss. She looked like a very beautiful girl! You gave her the life that she deserved, even after her rough start... I agree with @mufasa . Adopting a new piggie will honor her life, and help you to heal the hole she left in your heart. I've lost several pets, and it never gets easier... Last time I lost a pet, I made a slideshow of pictures and videos that I took of him. It really gave me closure, and I still have it on my computer. I hope that you might want to do this, if you have enough footage/pigtures. Good luck with your new pig!
