Introducing Blaze to the rest of my herd!

    Hey all

I while back a told you all about my new black and red Abby (4 months old) that was badly mistreated by her previous owner!

Well lastnight it was time to intro her to my 3 sows and neutered boar...

It was like a match made in Heaven! It went perfectly.

She started talking and popcorning almost instantly (first time EVER). It was beautiful to watch.

My question is jus this: When will she warm up to me? She goes nuts when I hold her, wiggling to get away! Help pls?

Well, guinea pigs are natural prey animals, so to them you look like a big hungry lion. It may take a long time for her to warm up with you, it may take only a few days, or it may never happen. It all depends on the pig's personality. One of my pigs took about a month to warm up with me after I got him. Two of my pigs were instantly very affectionate, and the other two took a year to even get them to not just sit in shock in my lap, then a while longer to get them to even eat out of my hand while sitting in my lap. So as you can see, it's very different for all pigs.
