Smile How I got my pigs to use the ramp

I just thought I'd share how I got my pigs to go up their ramp. Their ramp is a bent- grid ramp.

    1. Make sure the ramp is not to steep, is not too narrow, and that there is a railing of some sort.
    2. Try leading the pig up the ramp with a treat. My Asha figured things out from here.
    3. Puff, my older pig, would stretch her front legs and head as high up the ramp as she could to get the treat, and then just give up because she did mot want her back feet to leave the floor. I took a small-ish piece of fleece, folded it, and put it at the base of the ramp. I tried leading Puff up again, and she walked right up. She has been bounding up the ramp ever since.

Anyway, that's how I succeeded in teaching Puff and Asha to go up the ramp.

I found that making sure it had sides and it was steady helped my girls! BUT they also did the same thing your Puff was doing! Thanks for the idea!

do you have any pictures of the ramp? thank you!! I tried building a ramp out of a piece of wood and my piggies would not go up it even though it was covered in fleece!
