    I'm upgrading, need opinion...

Hey! So I have two boy piggies that are currently housed in a 2x3 (They were meant to be girls, and I read that 2x3 are usually a decent size for two female guinea pigs) but they turned out to be boys, and I think they'll need more space when they start going through puberty. So I was thinking of making a 3x4 cage for them, but I read somewhere (can't remember where) than having a 2x5 would most likely be better. So which do you think I should have? a 3x4 or a 2x5? I also would like to add an accessory or two to the cage (a hammock or a fabric jungle) any suggestions on this without using too much space for the pigs?

    Thanks for the help

A 3x4 will give them more space.

I have a wider cage. I like it, but it is hard to reach all areas of my cage for cleaning and catching piggies. But my girls really enjoy the cage.

I agree, a 3X4 would be better for boars. They need more space to get around each other. A 2X5 gives them more straight running room but a 3X4 would allow them to get around each other better. A 2X5 is perfectly acceptable as well however.

It depends upon the space you have, the type of bedding you use and the cleaning routine you have. I'm not tall so I find it difficult to reach across the 2 grid wide space in my 2 x 5 that's on the top of my 2 level cage. I know I'd never be able to reach into a 3 grid wide cage without stepping into it.

Well, I AM tall and unless you have access to the cage from more than one side, you may find it difficult to clean anything wider than a 2x?. So, as usual, I agree with Pinky. Even I would have to step into a 3x4 cage to clean and tidy it.

Depending on where the cage is located, the height off the floor, and the access room, I would consider a 2x5 for all the aforementioned reasons.
