Unhappy RIP My Gorgeous Guinea Pig Carrot

I've been crying since I got back at 4:30pm from a weekend away and found my little piggie Carrot had passed on. Broccoli and Carrot were both being looked after by friends, and I got back to discover his body was cold, and he had died.

I can't stop crying. He was only 4 years and 1 month old, and I keep thinking he should have lived longer. He was so nosy and friendly and I loved him so much, it's hard to believe he's gone. I'd give anything for one last cuddle.

I've got a photo of him printed and framed in my bedroom, and I was cuddling Broccoli for hours earlier. I don't know what else to do, or how to stop crying. Have you got any suggestions?

As for my other pig Broccoli, he seems fine and I would not really consider getting him another cage mate as he is a bit of a bully sometimes, and down to his personality he would probably not get along with another guinea pig.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your little friend, especially so unexpectedly. It takes time to get over the loss so give yourself time to grieve. You had Carrot with you for four years, so of course it hurts deeply. Hopefully Broccoli will give you comfort in the meantime. For me, another piggy was the only thing that eased the pain of losing Mufasa, not to replace him but to distract me from the empty cage and to keep me busy caring for a few friend. You're in my thoughts, and I'm sure Carrot is happily munching on veggies across the Rainbow Bridge.

I"m so sorry for your loss. It's ok to cry. When my first piggie passed away I cried for days on end. Carrot knew you loved him very much. You gave him a wonderful life. I'm glad you have a picture of him. I know my pictures of pets who have passed on give me so much comfort.
May your beautiful little Carrot rest in peace.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I understand how you're feeling right now. My Norbie was put to sleep this weekend. He got sick after I'd been gone for a few weeks and he never recovered. He was the same age too. I hope you find comfort, I'm here if you'd like to talk.

Thanks to everyone for the comforting replies. I'm feeling better today. I talked about him with my friends at school and that helped too. I cleaned out the cage and re-arranged a bit to put Broccoli's mind off Carrot incase he was feeling down. He came in and had a good run and play with me.

I am so sorry for your loss. Guinea pigs are beautiful animals. I have one piggy too, he is still alive though. I love my piggy like he's my child, and I bet you loved yours like that too. But cheer up, at least he's in a better place now. He's probably eating carrots up on a cloud right now.
