Exclamation Issues with my two males bonding!

I'm having a problem with my two male guinea pigs bonding with each other. I got my younger guinea pig Jeffry at the pet store, and after a few months thought he needed a friend. so I looked at my local animal shelters and found my second guinea pig Rosco. Rosco's history before being cared for at the animal shelter, is he was found on the streets half starved and hairless and in a lot of pain. I thought that since he was older then Jeffry it'd be easier for them to bond, and decided to get him. But, when I introduced them after the quarantine period my oldest, Rosco (four years old) did the usual rumble strutting and stuff like that, and my youngest Jeffry (not quiet a year old) submitted, but then Rosco continued to harass him and it continued to escalate. Now both Rosco and Jeffery have to be in separate cages because Rosco kept biting and picking on Jeffery to the point where he tore Jeffry's ear. Sometimes it seems like they can get a long for a little bit, but then they're at it again. I've even tried bathing them and removing the scent from everything but it didn't work. But during one of their first introductions they were able to snuggle for a little bit, but then they went at it again. And since their cages are next to each other they sleep kind of close, and don't seem too bothered until i bring them together for cage cleaning or floor time. I really want them to be together, and I was wondering if there were any other tactics I could use to get them to like each other so I don't have to keep them separated. I was also wondering due to Rosco having to survive on the streets if that has anything to do with him protecting his space? Any advice would really be helpful.

    Thanks!

Not sure what else you can do, but I had a divider up for Huey and Roger for a few months due to puberty but now they are doing well together. I will be adding Sheldon to the mix in 2 weeks so I may end up where you are now. Do you have extra water bottles, hideys, food dishes and hay rack? How big is the cage you had them both in? My guys are now happy in a 3x7 grids which is bigger then the minimum, but I have the space and I swear it helps them get along.

How big is your cage? Having enough room is probably the single most important thing in pigs getting along.

Do you have any idea how old Rosco is? He may just have to outgrow being an obnoxious teenager before they can get along.

Well I have a standard 2x5 coroplast guinea pig and each pig has a second 1x1 level. I'm planning on expanding their space, but my room has only so much space to provide. Also, my guinea pig Rosco is over four years old, but my guinea pig Jeffry is not even a year old yet. Yes, they each have their own hidey, water bottle, food bowel and hay rack. Do you think that more space would help?
