    Question Water bowls?

So my newest girlie, Godiva makes so much noise with the water bottle I could not stand it. Early in the morning she would chomp on the bottles and play with them and bite up the side of the tube and I just couldnt take it anymore.[/br][/br] I decided to try using a water dish. I use fleece so there is little chance of bedding getting into it, but I wanted to know if anyone here uses water bowls. I put bricks around it, so they dont lean on the bowl and tip it, and I've seen them all drink from it. After a week of both bottles and a bowl, I took the bottles out and they all drink fine from it. It's a ceramic dog bowl. [/br][/br]My questions, their feet and chins get wet (especially Godiva, who is a peruvian). Is this okay for them? They don't really dunk into it, they do put their little feet in it and shake off, I think they like playing in it. What are your thoughts? Is there such thing as a silent water bottle? But what about GoDIVA's biting? Of course there's wooden hideys and toys and tubes filled with hay but she HAS TO bite that bottle.

Sorry to double post, but why won't my spaces show up? I had this separated into paragraphs and they just become one big essay!

I don't like the water bowl idea because the guinea pigs play in the water then they drink it. I just don't think its sanitary, but you seem to be doing a excellent job with the water bottle. I don't know of any silent water bottles though.Good luck

    Re: Water bowls?

My little guy can't seem to figure out drinking out of his water bottle and will only drink from a bowl, but even with a weight ceramic one he still knocks it over and is practically bathing in it while drinking. Do the bricks work, and how many did you use?

I think that since you use fleece instead of bedding, as long as you change the water a couple extra times a day (since their feet are still getting in there) it's probably okay.

I ended up scrapping the bowl, they just played in it too much and it kept getting mucky. I'll just get some earplugs at night. Haha

I think the water bottle is more sanitary. I put a dish in the cage on these hot days, so they can play in the water, but it is a mess in just a short while.
