    Question my cage plans...

    I am hopefully getting my Guinea pigs soon. I am going to build them a 3×3 C&C cage with a 1×1 loft for hay. Does this sound good for two Guinea pigs or is it bigger to make a 2×4 c&c cage?
    For the bedding, I want to use fleace. So, I am going to put cardboard down for comfort and to raise them slightly off the floor then put newspapers down, then puppy pads, then the fleace clipped to the sides so the poggies can't get underneith. I have also been looking at the uhaul blankets and haven't decided to get them yet or not.

    Sounds good! Are you getting coroplast to protect your floors? If you have carpet I would highly recomend it.

    3x3 is fine for two females but for two males it is slightly too small so if your guinea pigs are males the cage needs to be 2x4 or bigger. Because males are very dominant they need space to "breath". And no, even with the 1x1 loft space on the 3x3, it would still not be enough room for two males. levels do not count. Guinea pigs need ground space.

    3x3 is bigger than 2x4.
    3x3 = 9 square grids
    2x4 = 8 square grids

    I agree about the loft. 1x2 or 1x3 loft should be better.

    *bonk* I must be out of my mind today. I guess I'm just not thinking. I literally finished school at 7:00 pm (homeschooled)! It's Been a long day.....

    Sorry about that, 3x3 is great for two pigs, male or female. But just remember, bigger is always better!

    Thank you. I was mainly just making the loft area a place to put their hay. I was trying to make the cage the biggest I could with just having to buy one box of grids. I am not using coroplast because it isn't very accessable. I am going to use a thick table cloth. I have hard wood floors so I'm not super worried.
