Ok, so I looked for this answer and couldn't find anything. How high do the sides of the coro need to be? I redid my cage this weekend for our new piggie. I ordered a new sheet of coro and since it only comes in 4x8 ft and my cage is 3X6 grids, I had to make my side 3 1/2 in tall. I plan on putting something around the inside of the cage. I'm not sure what yet, but I wanted a solid tray I could pull out and clean. Why do the sides need to be 6 in high? And what did any of you who have a 3 grid wide cage do? I have the old coro from the 2x5 cage so I could cut it and use that. I just wanted to know if I need the sides to be 6 in high or is this alright?
3 1/2 inches are okay. For the 6" sides, it's mostly used for people who don't use fleece, as the pigs will kick out the bedding more with lower sides.
Some people don't have any coroplast and as long as you use fleece any size sides are good. As long as you have no babies of course and you can piece coroplast together too, I use a strong packing tape and take care that it has no air bubbles or it will fall apart easier, otherwise it is holding up well, just don't expose it to the pigs at all they will chew it up.
Thanks guys! I'm glad I don't need to change it. Thinking about the design was keeping me up at night! The fleece is from Joann's it's a new pattern, it's also availible online.
