How do you do the 'thanking' or 'respectfully disagree' thing??

Sorry, I'm a newbie to this forum, though I've known and loved this site for years. I can't figure out how people do the "Thank you, for this useful post" or the "No thank you, we respectfully disagree." Sorry, I joined only yesterday and couldn't figure it out. Thank you!

I think after a while you are made a "cavy slave" instead of a newbie and then you can do the "thanks" and "no thanks". It will just show up when your status changes. And also I think the "no thanks" button only shows up in the Kitchen forum. I think it is after a month, but I am not sure. I've only been on here for 2 months and I have had it for a while now.
