Unhappy Clean cage after having a URI?

I'm new to this forum and my boyfriend and I just got a guinea pig yesterday!! He is two months old and is the cutest thing ever!!! When I was holding him earlier today I noticed that he was sneezing and had crusty eyes as well as a discharge from his nose. I scheduled and appointment with the vet as soon as I noticed. If he does have a URI, I wanted to know if I should clean out his cage. Are URI's contagious or anything? I don't want to risk him getting sick again.

URI's can be contagious to other pigs, but you would need to just clean his cage regularly with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water.

Did you get him at a petstore? It's very common for petstore pigs to be ill, mis-sexed or pregnant. Please opt to adopt next time and save a shelter pigs life instead of supporting a cruel pet mill industry.

I know to clean the cage regularly, but I'm wondering if as soon as I notice a difference from the use of the antibiotics if I should clean his cage. Is there a chance that he could get another URI from not cleaning his cage right away? I know to clean it once a week at the max, but if this is a special circumstance and should clean it right away?
