    Small bump!?

I was giving my bunny a cheek rub, and I felt a tiny bump (about the diameter of a pencil eraser) on his cheek. Considering he is two pounds, it stood out a bit. I have just noticed it. It seems a little too far back to be a tooth boo-boo, and it doesn't seem to hurt him. It seems to move with his skin, too. I looked under his fur and there is absolutly nothing. I will check to see if it gets bigger, but I don't know what it could be. It doesn't hurt him at all. When I was looking at it and feeling it, he even starting making his purr noise.

He used to live with two bigger rabbits that fought, so he does have scaring on his face, but it doesn't look/feel like any of his other scars.

He also has another bump-type-thing above his eye. This one I'm not too worried about, as I have been watching it and it hasn't gotten any bigger. I'm actually pretty sure this is just a scar that healed weirdly. Its smaller than the bump I just found, but it sticks up. It just feels like skin, nothing like the bump I just found.

    Thanks in advance.

It could be a calcium deposit. I used to get them all the time and I even had a dog that got them from time to time. I would keep an eye on it of course, but as long as it doesnt hurt him and isnt getting any bigger, than I wouldnt stress about it too much.

Its pretty much gone now! Thanks though.

I don't know if you know anything about this, but I found yet another bump on him. This is more of a rough spot right on the top of his head. It may be scaring, I am not sure. The hair is darker there and more corse. It also does not bother him at all! The lady where I just got my new rabbit said it could be scaring, too.

It could also be a cyst, if other mammals get those besides humans. Cysts are fluid-filled sacs and they move around, usually attached to tissue only at one point (the duct through which they got filled). In humans, under the skin they tend to be harmless. But I'd like to hear from rabbit and guinea pig experts: are they harmless in small animals? Do guinea pigs get cysts? Is it something to watch out for?

I know that the lumps that DON'T move --attached tightly to muscle or other tissue--are trouble.

Yes other animals get cysts. As far as them being dangerous, the vet is best to tell you that. If they're tiny I've seen them ignored. However if they are on the face and impede the eating process I have seen them drained. Guinea pigs can get cysts. When/if you find one, talk to your vet.
