Talking First C&C Soon! But questions...

I'm going to be building a 2x5 C&C cage for my piggies tomorrow but I was wondering how much fleece I'll need for the cage? Yard wise or so?

I'm so excited though! I can not wait! Just hoping my mom doesn't get tired and can't go after school.

I got 2.5 yards from the fabric store. That was long enough for my 2x5 cage. That's also just enough for one cage with a bit left over so that I can keep it under the cage bars so they can't dig under it. Plus it's also helpful for catching poops. But I also didn't use coroplast either.

Here is what we did, which makes a handy slip cover over the top of the coroplast. Warning, Math ahead.

Measure the inside length of your coroplast (L) then the width (W), and note the height of your walls (H). Buy a piece of fleece equal to: (L + 4H) by (W + 4H), and from each corner, measure a square equal to (H - 1/2). With a sewing machine, sew the sides of this cut out together so that you have an insert with corners. (I "finished" it by sewing the him sides out, but I'm weird like that, and it's not necessary.)

After placing towels down, place your insert on top with the sewn corners in the corners of the cage. The "walls" of the insert will go up and over the coroplast walls, and catch poopies very well. It also stays in place and only the most determined burrower can pull it down and get under it.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks! But my mom sadly did not want to have a 2x5 then my dad argued about a 2x4. So we downgraded to a 2x3. I know it's to small for two but right now they are popcorning and they are so happy! But they are such burrowers! Every time I look back at them, a corner in the fleece is always pulled up.

But they just seem to love snuggling in the fleece. Ack.

The funny thing was, I got them this cute plaid pink fleece when they are boys! It just suits them very well. I'll take pictures soon.
