Covered Plywood?

Would it be safe if my cage had plywood as the bottom? It would have newspaper, 2 layers of towels, and fleece on top, and no wood would be directly exposed. But I was still wondering if it would be safe or not. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure of the safety, but I would assume that without a waterproof barrier as well it would soon start to smell as the wood would absorb urine .

I'd add a shower curtain or a tarp to go on top of the ply wood.
