What companies make body wash that don't tested on animals, and isn't super expensive? I am using White Rain right now, but I still break out, and itch all over, I was using bar soap, but bodywash seems to give me less of a reaction. And it seems impossible to find it inexpensive too.

I personaly haven't bought it though. I don't like to put things on my credit card and I don't think that there are any near me.
My mom wouldn't buy it. I saw the thread and I do want to buy it, but my mom won't, too pricey.
Maybe you two could make a bargain? You do chores or pay half ect. ect and she helps buy it? Just a suggestion.
St. Ives makes products not tested on animals and only cost an arm, no leg. (just kidding) I have problems with soaps and such and I use a ph balanced shampoo as a shower gel. Just a thought.
LUSH makes body wash, not just bar soap. And it is fairly pricey, but they have all kinds of sales, so you can get really good deals, if you catch them at the right time. So if you watch for their sales, perhaps you can convince your mom at that point in time.
Kiss My Face Products are also not tested on animals, are a little easier to get (you can buy them at whole foods, I believe, and sometimes - only sometimes, Kroger carries them), and are sometimes cheaper. As for whether or not they'll make you itch, that will probably be a trial and error process.
Aveda products are great, but also pricey. Also you have to buy them from an Aveda retailer. But so worth the money, in my opinion.
Bath and Body works and The Body shop are both, I believe, cruelty free, though one of them (can't remember which) was bought by a parent company who is not cruelty free. Those products are again going to be pricier and very strong smelling as well, though they do carry some hypo-allergenic stuff.
Burt's Bees you can buy at Target and sometimes at CVS, though depending on how "orthodox" you are, they use "cruel" dyes. And their stuff can range on their pricier side.

Have you heard of Dr. Bronner's?
They are vegan soaps, and are not tested on animals. They are in liquid form as well, and I love the peppermint. You can find it in most natural food stores.
Also, Dr. Bronner's, to my knowledge, is fairly cheap. At least cheaper than Lush.
I have seen Bath and Body works, but they are more expensive than Lush I believe. I'm not sure if I have ever used Burts Bees body stuff, but my dad uses there shampoo. I think I'm going to try St. Ives first and if that doesn't work, see if my mom will agree to pay half for Lush. No, I haven't ever heard of Dr. Bronners, I check it out.
The problem with cheaper body washes is that they are poorly made. People with sensitive skin may have a reaction. The good thing is that there are moderately priced brands that are MUCH better and the fact is that, even though they come in smaller bottles, they last as long or longer because you use less. They are richer and more condensed instead of being watered down. Cheap in cost doesn't always even out if you have to use more of the cheap product.
I have found loads of animal friendly body washes at common stores (not specialty stores live Bath and Body Works) everywhere. Stores like Walmart, Target, Kmart and Walgreens usually carry a decent selection of moderate quality body washes. You may not necessarily find them with the WhiteRain and Suave washes but closer to the cosmetics or in their own endcap. Most Walgreens carries Burt's Bees products and their bodywash is excellent. My bottle lasted me nearly a year because it's so rich that I didn't need to use much each day. I also appreciated the scent. I'm not a flowery or fruity kind of person. I prefer citrus, herbal or spicy scents and BB's body wash smells like citrus ginger (or something like that) it's nice, light and not at all cloying.
I'm trying out a new brand now (BB's was sold out when I needed body wash) called Slice of Life. It was ~$5 for a 17.4oz bottle and it seems very nice. I bought one bottle but in the shower I found the scent too sweet (it smelled "cleaner" in the store) so I'm giving that one to my daughter and moving on to the green body wash they make called "Greener on My Side". The green one has a mint/rosemary scent (heavier on the rosemary). I find the quality good, it states on the bottle that it's not tested on animals (but I still need to research further) now I just need to see if they make a scent I can live with.
There are lots of options out there that aren't a lot of money. You just have to read the labels.

Where did you get Slice of Life at?? I have to sniff the scent in the store because I'm really pick/sensitive about the smell, and I hate heavy scented products!
Slice of Life was at Walmart. It's isn't with the cheap body washes. It was by the cosmetics, near the face cleaning/moisturizing products I believe.
You may find the Slice of Life scents too strong if you're sensitive to that. Burt's Bees has a lighter scent and I believe at Walmart I had also bought, used and liked a body wash called Bodycology (not 100% sure on the name but they don't test on animals either). If I remember correctly it wasn't too heavily scented. I was going to get more of that last time I went to buy bodywash but they were out of the scent I liked so I decided to try the S.o.L. The Bodycology was right next to the Slice of Life.
Okay, next time we are at Wal-Mart, I'll look at Slice Of Life, and if it's too strong, I'm going to try St. Ives.
Just FYI- make sure you read the labels on bar soaps because a lot of brands contain lard. When I used Bert's Bees I walked out of the shower with more of an odor than I walked in with. I just didn't feel clean. But everyone's body chemistry is different so by all means give it a whirl.
Ditto on what VJ said about buying cheap body wash. We were at the 99 cents store and saw some (hilarious) NFL bodywash. We bought it, mostly because we thought the "touchdown grape" was comical. Once home we read the fine print which cautioned that 'prolonged use' could cause skin infections and urinary tract infections. AAHHHH!!!

Also, regarding LUSH, sometimes if you contact the sellers through the website or store closest to you ... you can get totally hooked up with free samples.
My mom buys the Tone body wash bars, and, man, when I used to use it, you wouldn't believe how much I itched, and broke out!! gpigluver14, thanks for that info. Well, I can't get some new until I believe, the week after next (me and my siblings take turns on when we go to the store, I just went last Friday with my sister and brother), I think we go to Wal-Mart and I'll check out the Slice Of Life, and if that's too strong, I'm going to try St. Ives. ANd if ST. Ives doesn't work I'm going to see If I can try to get some free Lush samples.
One question, even if the bottle (or whatever it is), states that it isn't tested on animals, how do you find out for sure if they don't? I want to try some new things for my hair, and they state that they don't test on animals, but I want to be sure. One is Flawless Curls TreSemme conditioner, the other is eco styler Krystal Styling Gel.
Just a heads up Bath and Body Works say on their labels "this finished product not tested on animals" which could mean that while they were still formulating the product they tested on animals. Cool! I never saw where bodycology doesn't test on animals I'll have to try that. I have used simply basic from walmart before and it states that it is not tested on animals and contains no animal ingrediants. However you have to use more of it than some other higher quality soaps so it ends up being about the same price per month/year as other brands. (the really strong moonlight path scent or whatever it was called, just the handcream gave me a slight allergic reaction.)

You can find a lot of affordable body wash, especially if you're just looking for vegetarian products. You can buy the whole foods brand (365) for around $4. I have really sensitive skin, and a senistive nose. But I've used 365, and it doesn't bother me. Plus, it's vegan to boot.
