    Day at the Races

Cinnamon has made her own little race track through her cage. She runs about 10 laps like this each evening, popcorning the entire time. She starts upstairs, under the hammock and races down the stairs. Once down the stairs, she jumps on top of the hay rack, down and runs a lap around the pigloo...popcorning. Then she speeds back up the stairs, around the pigloo and back under the hammock. She will do this over and over and over, very cute to watch. Spice just sits in the middle of the cage, watching all this. What is interesting is that Cinnamon doesn't race around like this on the floor when she is down.

Sirius, up in his cage, is just a happy with life kinda guy. He popcorns and races around constantly. I have seem him eating food and then just up in the air to popcorn. Luna does the same thing, just starts to popcorn from a standing start. I think she would be a racer too but Petunia is being a snot to her at the moment and Luna avoids going downstairs where Petunia is sulking.

Does anyone else have a racer? Hmmm, that could be a new guinea pig sport....Racing!

yeah my piggies do it every morning and night in their cage. they get about 2 hours of floor time everday so im pretty sure its not lack of excersise. its so cute isnt it. they go pretty fast and i sometimes get worried they might run into something.

    Re: Day at the Races

My two younger girls Maggya and Poozy run around a lot, and since I put them in with the other girls they are happier, and they have been playing since! But Spice is a bum and she just sits there and looks pretty, and Sugar is just a nut in general, she'll run around and then stop and rest and do it again...nothing like what yours do!

I think that my piggy ( sill dont have a new name for him) might be a little bit too old for racing. He likes to walk around and stuff, and he popcorns pretty much but he isnt a little speedy or anything. O well maybe my new one will makehim more playful hehehe

    Re: Day at the Races

My 2 sows did that when they were few months old. Now they are 1 yr old, I didn't see them running like that anymore. But my 3rd sow which is 3 months old will run like crazy sometimes.

Cinnamon is in a 2x3, it has an upper deck though. An L shaped 1x3. It is plenty big for laps.

    Re: Day at the Races

i will have just two pigs in the 2x3, but floor time is a really really easy set up, so they will probably be out for a good portion of the evening. Id say at least for a couple of hours.

I have a 2x8 for my three pigs before Dollie gave birth. In that cage, they never did laps. While they ran and lapped during floor time, they always just sat around in the cage.
