They both sniffle and sneeze! When I listen to their chests I don't hear any fluid, or anything out of the ordinary. I've read that some sneezing may be caused by allergic reactions, and dusty hay. Coincidentally they were in hay at the Petsmart I bought them from. I don't really live by a exotics vet so I cant really go to one right now. Do you think my guinea pigs are in a 'state of emergency' at the moment? They still eat *very* well and are really lively, and have normal stool and urine.

Please help, Im err sort of um worried .

Thanksin advance, Manda - pig slave of three.

Actually I listened closer just a few minutes ago and it seems like the one abyssinian guinea pig is breathing funny. I need advice as soon as possible, sorry for posting again.

Sniffling and sneezing are often the first signs of an upper respiratory infection (URI), and pet shops are quite well known for selling sick animals. I would take them to a vet as soon as you can - URIs can progress so quickly, and easily be fatal, that if you 'wait and see' you may be too late to help them.

Post at Guinea Lynx http://www.guinealynx.info/forums/ if you need medical advice. You can seek advice on what to ask for if you can get them to a vet who has less experience with guinea pigs, but not the exotics vet. Good luck with your pigs.

    Unhappy

Your piggies are adorable and I truly hope that they will be okay. See if the pet store won't help you get them treatment -just an idea. Good Luck
