Is there any other type of cage bottom you can use other than cloroplast?

You can use linoleum. That's what I'm using for the bottom of my cage.

I like to use under bed totes. Since we ahve to ahve a top (we have a cat and 2 dogs),we just use that lid for the top

Astroturf could work.You know the fake grass stuff on football fields.absorbs water enormously.

Remember anything you use in their cage must be safe for them to eat as they will chew at it and inevitably ingest some. I shouldn't think astroturf would be at all suitable on that front.
