    Rosalie is swaying?

My rat is swaying back and forth while squinting her eyes. Why is she doing this? Being a new rat mom, I'm not sure about this kinda thing...

    Here's a picture of her.

She sits just like that and sways.

Is she too hot? It's hot here today.

    Emergency Vet Visit for rat

How much would it cost? It's 11:07 pm right now.

I have no one else to ask. Please help me if you can.

I think it would depend on the vet and what the emergency is.

Re: Emergency Vet Visit for rat

Thanks guys. I stayed up with her through the night and she improved. She's still eatting and drinking. She was really limp and wasn't moving much. She was also doing some "head bobing" that of which I found out was because she has red eyes and is pretty much blind....but that's just how red eyed rats focus on things. I guess I just never noticed. She's running around now. She's doing much better. It scared me though..

I'm so sorry to hear that she's not doing well! ):
You should take her to the vet and like see what's going on with her maybe.

Re: Emergency Vet Visit for rat

I'm having a hard time finding a vet open on Sunday. Do these people not know that animals get sick then too?

My normal vet is only open monday-saturday. I guess they need days off too.

She's acting weird again. It's almost like she's waayyy tired. She's never been this way. She's only 5 months old..

I have merged your threads. Please keep any medical issues regarding this rat limited to this thread instead of making more threads. This way it helps us to be able to help you better than to have to go hunt down multiple threads.

I've never seen a rat do what you are describing and I have pretty good knowledge about rats. I hope that you will be able to find a vet and figure out what is wrong, if anything.

    Re: Rosalie is swaying?

Okay we're back. She has a slight URI and they gave me baytril for it. Here's more information on rats and baytril.

    Medication Guide: Enrofloxacin / Baytril

I have to give her 4 mL each day for at least 7 days.

The head swaying is the way that they focus. She has red eyes so if she were human she would be legally blind.

It can be seen here. It's not my rat but it looks just like her.
