Archies overnight vet stay

I came home from work on Friday and went to check on the boys. I called Archie who was sat in the corner, he looked at me and his face was covered in porphyrin, as I got closer I saw a huge lump on the side of his face. I was sure it was an abscess since it had come up so quickly. So I rang the vets and got him an appointment for the morning.
When I took him in, the vet was sure it was an abscess too, and said he would have to lance it so that it could heal. They wouldn't be able to do the op untill after closing so I went home and eagerly awaited news of how he was doing.
He did fine and woke up well from the anesthetic, but they kept him in over night to keep an eye on him in case something went wrong as he isn't a young rat.
I rang up again this motning and they said I could go and collect him tonight. It was soooo sweet when I went in the examination room and said hello to me, he pressed his face against the bars and was scrabbling to get out. He is on antibiotics now to stop the infection returning and I have to take him back foir a visit on wednesday to check how he's doing.
He seems fine at the moment though, he is in the hospital cage so he has been getting lots of cuddles until he can go back in with the other boys.
So hopefully he is going to make a full recovery, I am so glad since I only lost Herbie rat a few weeks ago.
