Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 *I'm still confused on where to put all of my treads, if this is in the wrong spot, I'm very sorry* I'm probaly getting my rabbit and bunwife (both fixed, no babies). And I don't have enough money to buy her another c&c cage, just for temporary use. I will need a temporary cage for bonding time. I will be bringing my boy bun that I have now with me when I pick out my new bun, to make sure they don't have any major problems (adopting from a local rescue). So she shouldn't have to use her temporary cage for too long. I was wondering if it would be alright to use a large dog kennel for a temporary cage. I do have a few extra grids so I could make her a loft. The cage is very big, we used it to keep my puppy in during the day when she wasn't potty trained (but is just a space-taker-upper now :P). Its 2 feet by 3 feet with plenty of room to make 2 or 3 levels. I know this forum says that levels/lofts don't count for floor space, but I think it counts more when it comes to rabbits than gp's. As rabbits love to jump, and my bun goes up and down all day. She would have plenty of time out of this cage for bonding time, and the holes are plenty small enough that she wouldnt be able to get out. Its wire, so plenty ventilated. Sorry this is so icredibly long just to talk about a cage, I just want to make sure that this cage doesn't have any hazard or dangers. Thanks! |

Any and all questions regarding rabbits (whether they are about housing, diet, grooming or just general rabbit care) should be posted in this section. The main parts of the forum are for guinea pigs. |

So, how many rabbits will you house in this temporary situation? Just one? And by large dog kennel, which size exactly? And what is the size of the rabbit(s)? |

Yes, just one rabbit will be in the cage. The cage is 2x3 feet and I will probably make 3 levels with my left over grids. After they are bonded I will use those leftover grids to make the original cage bigger. The rabbit is a dwarf rabbit. I don't know har exact weight, but she is maybe a half-pound bigger than my rabbit I have now (or less) who is 2 pounds. So very small rabbit. |

Actually, could you post a picture of the dog kennel or a link to it? |

I'd say that the kennel is fine. Regarding that she's out alot and has a few levels it is an acceptable temporary cage. How long will she be in there? |

X Large dog kennels actually make pretty good kennels for bunnies so long as they're getting a lot of time outside of it. Just make sure the bars are close enough together that she can't get out or get her head stuck. |
