A few questions about Rabbits?

So I want own a Rabbit later but I had a few questions:

Are Rabbits good pets?
What breed(s) is best for cuddling?
How big would a C&C cage need to be for 2 Rabbits?
Are they hard to take care of?

Re: A few questions about Rabbits?

1. Yes, rabbits make good pets.
2. Most rabbits are not cuddly. However it is said that dwarf rabbits are less cuddly than larger rabbits. I have 4 bunnes; 1 dwarf Hotot mix about 1.5 pounds, a Polish mix, and 2 Holland Lops. My Holland lops are the more cuddly and my Hotot mix forget about it he hates to be held and really just is not a people bunny-unless you have veggies.
3. For 2 rabbits I would have at least a 3x4 with a second level.
4. Rabbits I would not say are hard to take care of but they do need a lot of floor time and care.

Check out binkybunny.com and houserabbit.com

OHH I forgot to add, if you don't get from a rescue definitely spay/neuter your bunny because they do hit puberty and can get quite feisty and moody.

Re: A few questions about Rabbits?

Rabbits are awesome pets and generally easy to care for!

I got my first rabbit, Snow-ball, for Easter when I was 5 and she died when I was 18.
I have 2 outdoor rabbits that live at my dad's house named Sugar and Spice, I would say they are both rescues.

Sugar is a part New Zealand that I caught from "the wild". I had a neighbour near my dad's house that had tame rabbits then released them, so they bred with wild rabbits. When they were big enough he would trap them to eat when ever he wanted. In the spring after Snow-ball died we went to his house to ask if we could have a rabbit and he said if we could catch one we could have it, 9 hours later I caught baby Sugar and tamed her with-in a week.
I got Spice from a teacher at my sister's elementary school. She had one little Rex in the classroom and bought another rabbit so the other one wouldn't be so lonely, but instead of being friends the new rabbit always fought with the other. The teacher knew we had pets and called me to see if I would take it or she would be taking it to the shelter.

Sugar and Spice never got along, so if you do decide to get rabbits, get two from the same litter or two young ones, same sex of course!
I've seen a few nice C&C cages for rabbits on this site and some good info also.

Good luck for when you do decided to get rabbits!

Re: A few questions about Rabbits?

Just a small note on getting same sex rabbits - does can be very agressive when housed together once they hit the puberty stage and beyond I they remain unaltered. In some instances they will fight to the death.

Make sure when you do get rabbits that you have a knowledgeable lagomorph vet nearby. GI stasis is one of the top killers of rabbits, especially if left unvetted.
