Would like book recommendations

I am planning to watch over a friends rabbit. For just a few
(cough) weeks. (cough). Not sure when she is bringing him over. He is a
small full grown rabbit. Sooo soft, black with big round eyes. He is boxed trained as well.

I asked my friend who was going to our library to get a book. Even for me a omnivore who has lived on a farm, some of the stuff in the book she brought home made me shudder.

Re: Would like book recommendations

I don't know of any right off hand but i've got a couple from the library so later i'll give you the title and author of them.

These are great rabbit forums and should be better than books though. Rabbits United Forum - Powered by vBulletin http://www.rabbitsonline.net/

I think I might know of the rabbit book you're talking about. I forget the title, but I read it a few years ago and it was pretty disturbing. Plus had bad info and the author kept his rabbits in tiny cages and just didn't care for them well. He used them for meat and things so it gave info on how to kill and skin, etc... not something I want to think about, much less read about.

I know Rabbits for dummies is probably the best.

Re: Would like book recommendations

A House Rabbit Primer by Lucille C. Moore is a good care book, as is the House Rabbit Handbook by Marinell Harriman.
One of my favourites [not about rabbit care, but rabbits' social life] is Stories Rabbits Tell by Susan E. Davis and Margo DeMello.

Is this the book you were talking about?

Re: Would like book recommendations

Forgot to mention, I loved the above book when I was in high school and had rabbits. But yes, it is not for everyone and I wouldn't reccommend it to a pet owner. There are a lot better choices out there. Unfortunately, if you live in a rural area like I do, you might not be able to find an appropriate book at the library. You'd be better of getting one of the house rabbit book from an online source.

(Oh and sorry, I just realized how old this thread is! )
