Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I was watering my mom's plants this evening and while doing this 2 tiny bunnies came jumping out of her large rose box. My mom has 2 dogs and one catches chipmunks and squirrels and kill them. I caught the closest one as the dogs came running towards us. The bunny has it's eyes open and is very alert and jumping as well. I ran to pet store and bought pellets and alfalfa hay. I have not had a bunny in years and didn't know what to do. I asked pet store people if they had any info they could tell me and they said to release it back into the wild in a different place than my mom's yard. I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me. I don't want it to die and I don't think I should put it back in my mom's yard. Please help! |

is it a wild rabbit? If so you should contact a wildlife rehabilitator. |

Ditto greenbeans on if it's a wild rabbit. They might have a foster mother. Otherwise if you suspect that it is under 5 weeks and a domestic rabbit, find a foster mother in town with kits about the same age. By the way, mother rabbits go away from their rabbits the whole day and feed them twice a day. If the bellies are round leave them be and try to convince your mom to leave the dogs inside and you could take them for walks instead for the time being. |

It was a wild rabbit. I released it back while dogs were occupied. I was so worried her dogs would harm it. Next time I'll just distract the dogs and let them get to safety. I'm a big softy and was concerned for the babies safety. |
