When my bunny, Bonkai, finds a place to lay down he falls headfirst to the ground without his feet touching the ground. I am wondering if this normal for Chinchin mix bunny. It looks like he zonks out. He is alert and conscious but the way he falls is very alarming.       |

It's a "bunny flop", which means the rabbit is very relaxed (hence only doing it when they find a comfy spot) "A really relaxed rabbit will lie in various stages of comfort, sometimes on his side, sometimes on his tummy with his feet stretched out behind him. The general idea is a happy, comfortable bunny. The blissful rabbit will throw himself on his side or roll over on his back, just for the sheer joy of it. I have been doing bunny rescue for many years and have never seen a bun fall down head first without using their legs! Usually a bunny flop is kind of when they plop down and spay their legs out. Could you take a video of it? |

If he is certainly "head-butting" the ground more than doing a flop (a very relaxed laying position that rabbits "jump" into) then check for signs of seizures. Eye rolling, stress, repeatably stretching limbs back and forth, distress, or anything else related. |

I agree with the other posters, check the signs of a seizure. To me though it looks like a bunny flop. My rabbit does it ALL the time when he finds a comfy spot and is content. He almost completely rolls over! I have seen other buns that sleep completely on their back! I think if we could see a video if possible that would be more helpful |
