Coroplast floor question...inside or outside?

For a rabbit, is it better to have the floor on the outside or inside of the cage? This would be a floor with a lip on it, like you see for the guinea pigs.

Thanks in advance for opinions!

Thanks,
Terry

I would suggest inside but it may be a personal choice thing too!

Thanks for your reply. At this point, we have already ordered a floor, and we decided it would go on the outside due to the fact I was concerned our bunny would want to chew on it. I know that will make it a bit more difficult to clean, but I think we can handle it.

Re: Coroplast floor question...inside or outside?

Putting the coroplast on the inside will keep any urine away from the metal grids. Urine will probably cause them to rust.

Re: Coroplast floor question...inside or outside?

Never thought about the urine/rust issue.

Well, it's too late now as we have custom ordered a floor; however, I have LOTS of real estate signs around here made out of coroplast. I think I may just may borders around the inside of the cage that we can replace as need be (if Pongo decides to chew on them!).

Anyhow, THANK YOU for bringing up that issue.

Re: Coroplast floor question...inside or outside?

I put my coroplast on the outside. The cage is easy to clean, I just lift the wired box out, take the big box of coroplast outside and dust it out and wipe it clean. My bunny misses his corner litter sometimes but it doesn't get near the wire grids at all. I just use vinegar water to deodorize it after wiping it up.

Thanks for the reply! We did go ahead and get the coroplast to go on the outside. We've had no problems at all with it. In fact, it is WONDERFUL!!!
