Meet my foster bun!

Hi all! I thought I'd introduce you to my foster, and potentially permanent, bun Oberon. He came to me through someone else on the Rabbits Only forum and I'm fostering him through Soulmate Rabbit Rescue. If I can manage to bond him to one of my pairs of buns (Fey and Sprite, the dwarf hotots) he'll be staying. If not, SRR will help me find him a great forever home.

Oberon is a New Zealand White and is about 10 lbs. He's an absolute sweetie and loves to cuddle and be petted, which is amazing considering his history. He was bought as snake food then dumped at a shelter which nearly euthanized him due to supposed aggression. We're thinking he's about a year old or so.

He's currently living in a 5 x 3.5 grid pen in my basement. I don't have any good pics of that at the moment, but it looks like a dungeon anyway. A big dungeon, but still. Thank goodness I have lots of extra grids!

Thanks! So far the intros aren't going real well, but it's not horrible either. Oberon is turning into a total lap bunny so I hope he bonds so I can keep him!

He is so cute! My first bunny was a NZW that I got when I was five and his name was Sugar. He was the kindest rabbit in the world, he died when I was 15 and it broke my heart. Good luck with the intros and congrats!

Thanks for asking! It is starting to go a little better. If I hold him on my lap while Fey and Sprite are out, they'll come up and lick his nose and he doesn't grunt at them any more. During "forced cuddling" he's starting to willingly snuggle into them. I did my first floor session on Friday and he was nippy again, but the girls are both interested in him. Fey and Sprite have also been doing lots of crazy binkies ever since.

I have a "no bonding on weekends" policy because if someone gets injured my vet office is closed. But I'll start again tomorrow.

Everybody needs rabbits! They're fabulous! Especially big buns like Oberon that just want to cuddle.

By the way, all of the other rabbits fostered through Soulmate Rabbit Rescue are in the Waukesha/Milwaukee area. Hint hint!

I see you still have Oberon. Does that mean he is now your rabbit?

Officially? No, not yet. Bonding is still going slow. Both the girls like him, and he likes to cuddle with them on my lap, but he's scared of them when they're loose on the floor together and keeps trying to hide. Poor boy, I wonder why he's so scared?

There haven't been any adoption offers yet either, which is fine by me. I adore him!

I'll post some more pictures later. I have some really cute ones, including some of him with the girls on my lap!
