Help... new rabbit I recently adopted a baby girl named fluff-a-nutter. A family brought a bunny from a pet store and to their surprise the bunny already had a growing litter inside so the needed to rehome three bunnies. I took the baby girl in about a month ago and love her. I've done some research on rabbits before getting her, I read rabbits for dummies and talked to friends who owned rabbits. There are a few things however that I've been concerned/wondering about. How big does a cage need to be for a bunny? Right now her cage is a 2 level 2x3 What kind of toys do your bunnies enjoy the most. Right now I've kinda given her the same toys as my little guineas: a hidey, a tennis ball, a stuffed animal, a brown paper bag of hay (which is her favorite because she love climbing in to bags), and a dig box because I heard that they enjoy digging. She also has a hammock. I like changing up the cages to keep things interesting so I was wondering what toys bunnies enjoy playing with. Also are their any good rabbit websites out there? Thanks.

Re: Help... new rabbit I highly reccomend the website House Rabbit Society Rabbit Care Guide, it is excellent. Another good resource is a book called the House Rabbit Handbook. Since she is just a baby right now, a 2 x 3 is fine if given adequate exercise time. As she grows you may consider expanding to a 2 x 4 or larger. The website has a long list of toy ideas but I will tell you some of my rabbit's favorites: a willow tent from bunnybunchboutique.com, cardboard tunnels found at Home Depot, cardboard boxes, an old phonebook to shred, apple tree branches, hard plastic baby toys that make noise, pinecones, box filled with hay to dig in, untreated baskets filled with hay, a chew wreath that I made by attaching wood pieces to a small willow wreath, and a small cat toy with a bell inside. I also bought him a cat tunnel for Christmas which I think he will love. A rabbit hammock? I have never heard of that, I would be very curious to hear if she uses it.

Re: Help... new rabbit The House Rabbit Society has a great website, and the book is great also. If you're looking for another book I'd recommend The House Rabbit Primer. I flipped through Rabbits For Dummies at a store once and found several mistakes but I forget what they were. So keep in mind that it may not always be the best source of info. I'd take the advise of people involved in rabbit rescues before I'd listen to more purely commercial advise. These are also good websites for rabbit info: Charky and Ash's Home Page Ontario Rabbit Education Organization There's much more but these are good starters. And this is a great list of rabbit toys- eventually I'll try all of them. http://www.adoptarabbit.org/articles/2003/Toys.pdf

Re: Help... new rabbit Thanks... yes, she does use the hammock... actually she loves it. I got the idea of getting it for her after I kept finding her on top of her hay rack. I figured out that she really likes the height.
