Well, the first step would be to have the rabbit spayed/neutered if it is not already. This will cut down on hormones so the rabbit will not want to constantly mark their territory. Usually rabbits will use one or two corners of their cage as a bathroom, so place litterboxes with rabbit-safe litter in those corners. Adding hay to the litterbox can also encourage use. If the rabbit goes potty outside the box, then transfer the poos to the litterbox. I like laying down newspaper in the cage so if they pee, you can rip out the pee spot and put that in the litterbox also.
Most rabbits will soon catch on to the idea. When you let your rabbit out, start with a small area at first such as part of the kitchen. Place one or two litterboxes and toys in the area. As they become reliable with using the litterbox, you can gradually expand the area. If you expand to more than one room, you should have at least one litterbox in each room.
