Possible pregnant piggy?
I have a female guinea pig that was abandoned at our barn 33 days ago. We suspected pregnancy immediately just becaus she is female and we have no knowledge of her past as well as the size of her belly. I finally got a scale, her weight on 10/4 was 1087g, and today it is 1129g. This shows a gain of 42g in 3 days. She eats ALOT of hay as well as veggies. I feed her Oxbow pellets but she isn't big on them. Her belly sure seems like it is expanding but I can,t tell if I see or feel movement should I put her on Alfalfa in case or will harm her if she,s not preg? I have no idea of her age, she is very loving although she doesn,t like her belly or sides touched. Advice would be helpful. Thanks

Re: Possible pregnant piggy?
As long as she is getting plenty of veggies and greens and grass hay, she won't need the alfalfa even if she's pregnant.
She could be gaining weight because she was malnourished before you got her.
Is she losing hair? I would treat her with ivermectin either way--being "feral" could have exposed her to all sorts of parasites.
Since guinea pig gestation is anywhere from 59 to 72 days, you still have some time to go. Usually you start feeling motion of babies about 3 weeks before delivery.
