Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
Hi My piggie just gave birth to 4 baby piggies this morning and I am worried about them because when I checked their weight it was less than 0.01 lb and they fit in my hand and my hand is very small. So I am very worried about their health. |

When my sow gave birth, she had one stillborn and one live. I never weighed the baby, but it seemed as though her body was smaller than her head. Her ears looked HUGE! Hopefully someone can give you more useful information. |

I don't know what they are "expected" to weigh at birth or shortly after, but if it's any help, I weigh my babies weekly since I got them, two weeks ago, they are now 5 weeks old and weight 11 oz 6 grams and 12 oz and 3 grams, so they gain very quickly. When I first got them they only weighed 8.7 and 9.4, which seems like nothing in weight. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If they are eating/peeing/pooing normally, I would just say weight them daily or every other day to make sure they are gaining something, anything is good. |

Baby weights are usually between 1 to 4 oz. Do you have a kitchen scale that weighs in grams? That is easier to get. http://www.guinealynx.info/weigh.html http://www.guinealynx.info/reproduction.html |
