Bebop is pregnant....

Hi all.. first post. I adopted Bebop around July of this year. Her mother was bought from a pet store by another family in January or February, and she was pregnant already. The daughter lost interest and so I adopted the female, Bebop.

Well, I intended to adopt a female from a local shelter as a companion.. unfortunately they could not sex the guinea pigs properly. Now we have Buku, the male. They were together for about a month before I found this website and Guinea Lynx. Thus, Bebop's accidental pregnancy...

Here she is on Sept 22nd. This is when I first remember feeling movement. I will post updated pictures tonight. She is quite big today, and her pelvic bones are separated almost an inch.

Re: Bebop is pregnant....

I don't see an edit button anywhere.

Here is an update...

Two nights ago bebop started doing this weird dance. It lasted only about 5 min. She would make the hiccuping motion described on the guinea lynx page I can't seem to find right now. She would circle around do the same hiccuping motion and then reach underneath. I could not see any blood.

She is acting normally and eating well. I feed her alfalfa and at least a cup of vegetables everyday. It seems the pups are getting a little bigger. Bebop is probably just around an inch dilated. I definitely notice a widening everyday.

Should I be alarmed that she was acting weirdly?

Thanks in advance! I've learned a lot here.

You won't see an edit button as members can only edit a post for up to 10 minutes after they post it. After that, we mods have to edit.

Are you only feeding alfalfa hay? She needs grass hay as well.

Re: Bebop is pregnant....

Yes, she is also eating normal hay. I have the oxbow alfalfa and two types of timothy.. she doesn't like the kaytee brand at all, but enjoys the walmart brand.
