Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hi I just found out that my "male" guinea pig gave birth to three baby pigs and I am completely lost. Momma only seems to be feeding/cleaning one of the pigs? So should I help the other two out or what? Any advice would be great about newborns in general. |

First, separate the other male ASAP. I can't really give you any other advice rather than call a vet and ask questions. I don't want to guess and put the pups under any harm. |

Do you just have the one guinea pig who gave birth (not counting the babies)? There is some helpful info here http://www.guinealynx.info/reproduction.html You can start handling the babies right away. Weigh them daily and momma too. Momma should take care of them all. Baby proof the cage and get them some alfalfa hay if you don't have alfalfa pellets. Remove any boy babies at 21 days. |

If the male/female were together immediately following the birth, she might be pregnant again. At this point I'd think the best thing would be to get them all to a vet. |
