I posted at the same time as the update so I hadn't read about the vet yet. I certainly believe the vet.

Re: Could this be blood in the cage?

Blood like that isn't normal before birth/ during pregnancy. There is often some blood during labor.

I'm sorry about the one that didn't make it but at least momma is okay.

Re: Could this be blood in the cage?

Just now I found two very dots of blood in the cage. They are significantly smaller...not even the size of a dime. The vet told me that Ophelia is beginning to separate, so I assume this is her or maybe Olive is passing something?? What do you guys think?

Re: Could this be blood in the cage?

There shouldn't be any spotting even if her pelvic bones are separating.

Could the other one still be spotting?

Re: Could this be blood in the cage?

I suppose that she could be. The vet didn't mention anything about it. I'm going to call them right now.

Re: Could this be blood in the cage?

The vet said that spotting is to be expected from a birth, either stillborn or alive. Should be very light for a couple of days. Ophelia doesn't appear to be having contractions yet, so I am hoping it's not her spotting and it's just Olive.

Re: Could this be blood in the cage?

Hope everything is going well with both the girls and everything goes well with the litter you're expecting. I'm so sorry about your loss, but I'm happy to hear mom is okay.

Re: Could this be blood in the cage?

Ophelia is doing great! In case you haven't seen this thread, she had her pups! Olive has been able to handle her hormones and loss by nursing and helping to raise the two babies. We feel so blessed that both the girls made it through and to have these two babies alive and healthy. Phew! First and LAST litters!
