As of today we no longer allow certain types of photos or videos to be posted on the site. If you come across a website or YouTube video that you are tempted to post on the site please refer to the list below to determine if it is allowed on the site or not.
Among the photos/videos no longer allowed are
- Guinea Pigs or Rabbits being prepared for food purposes
- Reptiles or other animals being fed live rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, etc.
- Animals being treated in a manner that you may deem cruel but not illegally so such as; animals swimming, racing, being bathed or played with roughly.
- Too small/inappropriate cages
- Improper food such as pellet mixes, no hay, vitamins in the water
We, the staff, understand and encourage your desire to enlighten about animal cruelty and neglect and to help put an end to it. However, posting media of subjects mentioned above does nothing except encourage people to agree about how awful it is, prompt members to post even more videos of such examples of cruelty or neglect, upset members and choke up the board with useless threads where we all agree about how awful something is but are powerless to do anything about it.
If you find a video or picture that shows illegal cruelty or neglect you may post it so that we can work on getting it flagged, removed and hopefully the perpetrator punished.
If you come across a video or picture that is not showing an illegal activity but you feel that action should be taken then use your best judgement about posting said media. If you decide to do so you are expected to lead the way in encouraging people to get involved and contact the host site/animal owner to improve conditions or remove the video.
Posting media simply to get people to post and agree with you about how awful it is is no longer allowed. If you are unwilling or unable to do anything about it then you are simply giving the media owner what they want, an audience.
