Notice About Impactions - a must read

This will be moved into the policies and philosophies section later, but in order to ensure that more people see it, it's being placed here for the time being.

Impactions are an equal opportunity system. What does this mean? It means that impactions are not only for new people. Long time members are also vulnerable to - or entitled to - impactions. Impactions are not only for our less informed members. Very knowledgeable members are entitled to impactions, too. Impactions are not personal. Even members who are great friends with other members/moderators/administrators are entitled to impactions.

The take home message from all of this is that impactions are not anything to get upset about. If corrective actions are taken on your part, the impaction will expire, and it will be like it never happened.

However, if you feel that an impaction was truly unwarranted, there is a way we'd prefer that be handled.

To appeal an impaction, you need to PRIVATE MESSAGE the moderator who issued you the impaction. If you do not get a satisfactory answer from that moderator, then you may take the issue to another moderator or administrator.

Do not start a thread in the public forum about the issue. These threads will most likely be deleted.
