This is an anti-breeding forum (not anti-breeder forum).
Our mission and principles include opposition to all intentional breeding of guinea pigs and other companion animals. As such, we do not allow advocacy or how-to discussions of any kind of breeding or showing here. That said, this is not about being against breeders as people. We are against the ACT of breeding and showing. Many of us even have family and friends who are breeders. That does not mean that we necessarily condone their actions of breeding, nor subscribe to their belief systems. We are not even remotely suggesting that breeders are 'bad people.' Not at all. We do, however, have issues with their actions, beliefs and the results of either directly breeding or supporting breeding.
Breeders are welcome to post here about non-breeding topics.
We allow and even support breeders joining this forum to learn more about guinea pig care, C&C cages, and other topics we post about. Breeders, like all members, must obey every rule of the forum.
Breeders are welcome to engage in debate in our Kitchen forum.
From time to time, topics or debates arise around breeding and/or showing or other animal welfare-related issues. They either start in our Kitchen forum or are moved to our Kitchen forum. As long as discussions remain civil, intelligent and respectful of our posting rules, those debates are acceptable. When a topic starts to get heated and seems like it might be going out of control, we will put the entire thread on moderation for everyone, to ensure that personal insults are removed, tangents are managed, etc. Debate threads must serve a purpose beyond simple arguing. They must educate or add value in some way.
Breeders may not be Cavy Stars or Cavy Champions.
These membership types are rewards for those who donate to help the forum and its pro-rescue mission. Breeding exacerbates overpopulation, impulse buying, petstores, and other things this forum is against. We do not want money gained from those who cause us to spend more on rescue and rescue-related support in the first place.
