Lightbulb Bannings & Demotions

Banning Overview
If you follow all the policies and guidelines this forum has set out, you should never have reason to be banned. Here are our policies on bannings.

Temporary Banning
If you are ever issued three warnings, the third warning will be accompanied by a temporary ban for failure to heed those warnings. When you are BANNED from cavycages forum under a temporary ban, signing up under a new name to post while your old name is banned will automatically earn you a permanent ban from the forum. There was a reason why you earned a temporary ban and if you just take it, it's over relatively soon and you can come back and post provided you follow all the policies and guidelines.

Permanent Banning
We don't often issue permanent bannings. Most are given to trolls and spammers but there are occasions when a member will be permanently banned for repeated failure of following our policies and guidelines. We review some members case by case and in some instances instead of being banned, the member is simply demoted and are allowed to continue posting on the forum with limited access. But for those who blatantly continue to ignore warnings, especially after a temporary ban will end up permanently banned. If you are BANNED permanently, that means DON'T come back. Every time you TRY to rejoin or even manage to sneak past us and rejoin, you will be caught and banned again.

If you want to be unbanned...
We rarely unban people. Our reasons for banning are very compelling, and posted publicly. In the past, we have unbanned a couple of people, only to regret it. If you have been permanently banned for bad behavior, after six months, you may email the mods politely and we will consider your case. However, your chances are not good, because of our very bad experiences in the past.

If you believe you have been banned in error, please email the mods politely and explain the situation.

Trolls and Spammers
These types of people who come to our forum will not stand a chance. They will be caught and banned permanently without warning.

Demotion to Cavy Person
A demotion to Cavy Person means that you are no longer allowed to post in the Kitchen or Vegetarin forums on Cavy Cages. This can be for a couple of reasons. The most blatant reason is showing a clear disregard for animal welfare issues. We like good debates with articulate, well-presented and well-supported dialog. Stupid, immature, or tired and superficial posts are not welcome. Also, the Vegetarian forum is a SUPPORT forum for vegetarians, NOT a forum to attack the vegetarian position.

Another reason you could be demoted to Cavy Person even with well-articulated comments is if your posting habits become trollish in nature, that is constantly arguing for the sake of arguing, just to get a rise out of people or make your presense known.

Status as Cavy Person allows you to post freely on the rest of the Cavy Cages forums.

Demotion to Cavy Caged
The above reasons for demotion to Cavy Person might apply to demotion for Cavy Caged, but might not. More typically, the offending posts are made in a variety of forums, not just the hot topics in the Kitchen. Someone may be continously posting bad or questionable advice or handing out questionable comments or flooding the forum with a lot of no-value posts. Bottom line, the only way to 'fix' this problem is to moderate all their posts. That is, a moderator has to look at them and approve them before the public sees them.

Becoming Un-Caged
It is possible to earn back a full membership after being demoted to Cavy Caged. If your posts are intelligent, articulate, and generally beneficial to the forum for at least a month, the mods may return you to full status (Cavy Slave, Cavy Cager, or Cavy Person). Further misbehavior will result in another demotion or a banning.
