Thumbs up Capitalization, Spelling, Grammar, etc.

Posting Etiquette Overview
We set high standards here at Cavy Cages regarding how posts are made. This is an International Forum so it's very important that you use the following guidelines when making a post or starting a thread:

Capitalization
Capitalize all letters that need capitalizing, especially the beginning letter of each sentence. Also capitalize people's names, places and other nouns that need capitalized.

Punctuation
Use the appropriate punctuation at the end of your sentences. Refrain from using ellipses inappropriately. Ellipses are those three little dots (...) in case you didn't know. Don't use smilies as punctuation. The basic punctuations that should end a sentence are a period (.), a question mark (?), and an exclamation point (!). Please don't go overboard with the punctuation at the end of a sentence. We don't want to see ???????? or !!!!!!!!!!!!! ending your sentences. Also please punctuate words like I'm, it's, don't, can't, they're, etc.

Spelling
Spell your words correctly. If you are using Internet Explorer, there is a built in spell checker if you click the "ABC" icon in the new reply box, it can be found on the upper right hand side of the box. If you are using any other browser, you may want to use another program such as Microsoft Word, Works, WordPerfect, or an online spell checker before posting. Spelling correctly makes it easier for our International friends to translate posts.

DO’S when making a post:
1. Use proper English.
2. Use proper grammar.
3. Spell out your words.
5. Break long paragraphs down into smaller ones to make your posts much easier to read.
6. Use slang with restraint.

DON’TS when making a post:
1. Do NOT use chat-speak. Chat speak belongs in our Chat Room!
2. Do NOT post in all bold lettering.
3. Do NOT post a sentence or an entire post in all capital letters. This is considered shouting.
4. Do NOT post in all colored lettering as it makes posts difficult to read.

In Summary
This seems like a lot of guidelines but in the end it makes the posts so much easier to read and it will get you replies that much faster. If we have to take a lot of time to try to figure out what you are saying, we are liable to just skip over your post/thread and move on to read another thus leaving you without help. We learned all these things in school, so even in today's internet world we need to take all we have learned and apply it. You are never too old or too young to use proper writing skills.
