Doesn't want floor time?

Is it normal once you've built a large cage that your pig won't want out as much? My guinea pig actually chews on his cage and wants back in ....

Re: Doesn't want floor time?

My girl Basil chews on the cage and wants back in if i take her out for floortime in the same room. Shes not really energetic, just kind of sits back and lets the other guinea pig do most of the running around and exploring. Ive always thought that maybe this was just her personality. I think she enjoys getting out of the cage though. Maybe putting some treats and hidey houses around the room to encourage exploration.

Re: Doesn't want floor time?

He loves lap time, just not floor time. Could it be he just doesn't care? Is it important to have play time?

Re: Doesn't want floor time?

Yes, they should have floor time so that they get the cance to run around in a large area and get some exercise. It also gives the oppourtunity to explore something new.

Re: Doesn't want floor time?

my lilly just sits in her house during play time. I think some pigs are just lazy and don't really play much.

Re: Doesn't want floor time?

Mine would always sit when I took them out and put them on the floor... They didn't do anything while they were out. They loved being held though.

Probably depends on the piggie. One of mine did like our dog though... Both were solid white. It was really cute how she would walk between the dog's legs.

Re: Doesn't want floor time?

Mine seem terrified whenever we take them out. I kind of feel bad, actually. when they are in their cage they run around, eat, play, chat, etc. But when we take them out they make panic-like noises, tremble, hide, and so on. We've only had them a week, so I think they will get better. I try to take them out after the kids go to bed every evening for lap time. And they seem to enjoy that. But when I take them out for floor time they kind of flip out. I usually clean their cage while they are out, and they really like it when their cage is clean, it's very cute. But I think they would be happier without floor time. Hopefully they will warm up to it, since it's easier to clean their cage when they are out playing instead of in it.

Re: Doesn't want floor time?

My one just stays in the closest corner to his food and when I walk to the other side of the room and not looking at him I can hear him playing about then when I go back there he runs to his lil' corner .
