Lightbulb Is litter traning you're guinea pig a problem?

Dose you're guinea pig go on the floor at play time?
Well all you need to do is litter train them,it might take a few day to start and they might go in other places but afrter they will realice that its not the terrtiory and go in that place and start use it more! But after a while you're guinea pig will be litter trained in no time!
All you need is:

Cat litter
A guinea pig litter box
(pore the cat litter into tne litter box and then it's as simpel as that !

Ask a pet store person for more detail!

Re: Is litter traning you're guinea pig a problem?

I would not use cat litter. I don't think it is good for their little lungs. Try using aspen, Carefresh, or shredded newspaper instead.

LOL As simple as that huh? My piggies go in their litter box. But they also leave little presents for me in other places too. I think it just depends on the piggy. I know that if you put some hay in or next to the litter box it will help. They tend to relieve themselves while they're eating. The litter will catch the majority of the waste. You still might have to go around picking up poos and wiping up pee. I would lay down a shower curtain and fleece. I don't trust my piggies on my carpet.

Re: Is litter traning you're guinea pig a problem?

Cat litter is unhealthy for use with guinea pigs. They will often try to eat it. Please try an alternative litter, like Aspen, Carefresh, kiln-dried Pine, Yesterday's News, etc.

And asking a "pet store person for more detail" is highly inadvisable.

Re: Is litter traning you're guinea pig a problem?

What? That is so ridiculous, just because a pet store person says it does not make it true. Hence the advice given about water drops, feeding them oranges daily, the cages within pet stores, ect.

Yesterday's News is no different than the small animal bedding. If your pet store person is so smart, why would she not suggest the animal bedding, but something for cats instead? That is ridiculous. That pretty much says everything itself.

And OF COURSE when you asked the pet store person they gave you everything you needed to use. She IS a SALES person. It is part of her job to bring money to the business.
Thank you frashy for this useful post, says:

Re: Is litter traning you're guinea pig a problem?

Peanut Butter

I need to ask you to please check your private messages and to please read the rules, policies and philosophies of this site before you post anything else.

I need to stress to everyone that Peanut Butter's advice is extremely poor. DO NOT EVER use cat litter (clay or clumping) around small animals. It is extremely dangerous and can cause impactions and system upset if eaten and it is so dusty that it can result in respiratory issues if inhaled.

NEVER rely on advice given by petstore personal. They are SALES PEOPLE not animal experts. Their only job is to sell you items whether you need them or not and usually do not understand about proper care of animals.

Thread Closed do to poor advice.
Thank you VoodooJoint for this useful post, says:
