I am happy beyond belief! I blocked up under by bed and desks with pillows and blankets, and my computer desk with the big luggage bags from my summer trips. Wilbur was ready to have some decent space to play! My piggie, Wilbur, is very reluctant into going in my hands. So I try to get him in his ball (used when I clean his cage). He downright refuses, even with a carrot in there. So I decided to use a flat object to carry him down. My math textbook. So I got said book and placed it like a floor to his cage door. He started chewing on the corners for a second ("that's my boy!") and then climbed on.It was a blast. He ran around everywhere in my 10' x 12' room, hiding in various nooks and crannies in my room. I had to text message everyone! And as I did that, he sniffed my feet and ate from his moved food bowl. Then I put him back into his cage (with a small box, thankfully found by Dad) and went into his pigloo, absolutely beat. ![]()

Re: My piggy's first floor time! YIKES!!! Please do NOT put piggies in balls!!! It is BAD for their spines and cause life-threatening injuries, their spines do not flex the way a rats does. This is not appropriate for your piggie!!! I'm glad that floor time went well though! Good luck! Heidi

Re: My piggy's first floor time! Im pretty sure ALL ball are bad for pigs. Wheels too. They are bad for their backs, and its a shame that they are even sold. Even big ferret wheels can hurt them.

Re: My piggy's first floor time! That is great news! Most guinea pigs love the extra space to do zoomies and pop corns! Are you planning on making floor time a daily thing? Guilty as charged, my girls do not always get floor time every day although they do have a big, big cage. If you have a smaller cage then floor time really should be a daily thing. Not to dampen your happiness but ALL balls are bad for guinea pigs, it doesn't matter what size they are. A guinea pigs anatomy is not made to bend in the way that these objects make them bend, this can result in broken spines and death. You should find that if you hold your guinea pig appropriatley and if you hold him everyday, that he settles down. Try giving him his favourite food treat only when he is being held. Saying that, it is in some guinea pigs personalities that they do not like being held. But with persistence just about all guinea pigs can be turned around.

Re: My piggy's first floor time! This is a lil off topic but, have you built your c&c cage yet?? Just wandering, as said before we aren't yelling at you we are just informing you about the danger of exercise balls so that your Guinea Pig does not get hurt.
