Need some advice about free-ranging.

Hi wondering if any experienced people could give me some advice on free-ranging?

I was planning on making a big cage (100"x29" for 3 piggies) but then thought "huh? im having my room guinea pig proofed and cat proofed so they cant get in when the pigs are having floor time why not have them as free-ranger?" anyway ive decided I will have them as free range ...BUT... I will keep a good sized cage for when I go out then I will allow the cats into my bedroom (ill have a cat flap in my door) and the pigs will go back in there cage so I need to know what do I need to do (safety wise) and whats a good idea to get for the room (hidey huts any bottles? etc)

thanks in advace

Have you seen this link?
http://www.guineapigcages.com/freerange.htm
I had a look at it to admire the set-ups even though mine aren't free-range
