Re: I need help with floor time

Do yu have pets that come near the cage? If so your piggie may be afraid of them

I read that it is best to have two because they are so social, maybe your piggie is getting used to being alone a lot and becoming used to it.

Other than that I couldn't say, some piggies will let you and some simply will not. Just be patient and keep trying. Maybe you could try to lure him with a snack in hand or hold him in your lap when you give lettuce or veggies. That works with one of mine, now she squeals whenever I come in the room and runs over to me. The other two will not.

Re: I need help with floor time

Kiwi used to be like that. To hold her I would corner her in her cage and pet her really gently to let her know I wasn't going to hurt her,(guinea pigs are naturally scared if not well socialized as a baby) then I would gently pick her up and hold her against my chest(she feels more comfortable then)and with time she got used to me.

I would hold her for 20 minutes each day and now she lets me pick her up anytime.

For playtime, Kiwi hates wood floors so if you have them try a rug or blanket or newspaper or something. But make sure you provide toys, tunnels, and a hidy house during playtime so your piggy feels more comfortable being outside his cage.

You can also feed your piggy veggies during playtime to get him excited to be out and happy and to relax and eat because guinea pigs love to eat.

To make him more comfortable try having toys, a litter box filled with newspaper lining then bedding then covered in sweet timothy hay, a hidy house, and make sure your there the whole time with him to let him know your his friend.

Hope that helps!
