Hmmm... My piggie, Dixie is in a 2x3 grid C&C cage with a 1x3 upper level. She does laps around it probably twice a day. I take her out alot and let her run around a little. However, I usually don't set up a pen area for her to explore for an hour or so as she is content with her cage and doesn't seem to want to interact on the floor. Dixie just hides in her hidey house when I try floor time. I havn't found one toy that she goes nuts over. I am wondering a) what toys can I try? (I have some cat jingle balls, chew toys and a pipe) and b) do I need to do floor time every day or is she fine?

Re: Hmmm... I think with cavies, the simpler the better. My cavies fave toys are: a crumpled up ball of paper, and an old sock with hay in it. And with floor time, I think if you give her enough time she'll eventually explore. When I first got my girls, they needed 10-15 minutes of sitting in the same spot, and then they'd get adventurous and explore around. One thing, I've had a problem in the past with mine running frantically when I was going to pick them up to go back in the cage. I caught Michigan, but Madison made it behind the couch, and by the time I caught her the whole room's furniture was moved around. I don't know how new your pig is, and maybe you've got a calm cool piggy!

Re: Hmmm... I'm sorry to say that Dixie is far from calm. It takes me about 5-10 mins to catch her in her cage from running! She is starting to come to me a little more though. Thanks for the ideas! I'm going to try the sock and paper lunch bag thing. ![]()
